We want to make your first experience at Augusta Heights as easy and enjoyable as possible. Here are some common questions people have when visiting a church. If you want more information or have other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us using the email at the bottom of the page.
What kind of church are you?
We are a group of people who want to serve our community, welcome all people into fellowship, and join with others in worship, missions, and ministry. We want to love Christ, and we do that best when we love people.
We are a diverse community of God's people united by faith in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We believe in the power of prayer, the priesthood of all believers, the equality of all believers, and the responsibility of each believer to use his or her gifts to the glory of God. Our purpose is to worship God, to grow spiritually, and to boldly share God's love through outreach, missions, and service.
When do you have worship, Bible study, and activities?
On Sunday mornings, there are Bible study groups at 9:30 am for children, youth, and adults. Then, at 10:30 am, the church gathers in the sanctuary for worship. There is also Sunday School and childcare for preschoolers available during these times.
On Wednesday evenings at 5:45 pm there is a time of prayer, Bible study, and discussion of various topics in the chapel for all adults. Children can participate in Children in Action and Children's Music from 5:45 to 6:45 pm during the school year, as well as other special activities throughout the summer. Choir practice is at 6:45 pm. (There are no Wednesday evening activities during June and July.
Of course, there are many other activities, events, and special services. If you'd like to find out more about what is going on at Augusta Heights, please contact us.
Where are you, and how do I get there?
Augusta Heights is located at 3018 Augusta Street, across the street from Mug & Muffin and Harrison Lighting, in between the Augusta Heights Apartments and the shopping center with 9 Round Fitness.
Where should I park? How do I get in the building?
You can turn into the church from Augusta Street. You may park anywhere in the parking lot on the right or the left side of the building.
The easiest ways to enter the building are through the main sanctuary or chapel doors (facing Augusta Street), or through the church office door, which faces the parking lot on the right side of the building. People and signs will help you find your way from there!
What do I do with my kids?
When you arrive, someone will be glad to help you find your way to the nursery/education wing, or you can follow the interior signs. Once there, your child can learn and play in a safe, fun, caring environment just a few rooms away from where you will be.
We have Sunday School at 9:30 am for preschoolers, children, and youth. Older preschoolers (three, four, and five year olds) and children come to worship and are invited to participate in the children's sermon early in the service. Afterward, preschoolers can go to their worship care rooms and children can stay in worship. We also have worship bags with activities for children that allow them to interact with the worship service.
What are the worship services like?
Worship at Augusta Heights is always warm and welcoming, and we always get done in about an hour! We try to be creative and use a variety of elements including old hymns, newer songs, visual displays and art. Worship is also participatory, with congregational readings, prayers, and singing. Usually we have about 120 people in the worship service. Some people come in their "Sunday best," while others wear jeans and a t-shirt. But we are more interested in you than in your clothes, and we will simply be glad you are there!
